The agreement

Terms.

What you get, what you pay, and how to change or stop. Written to be read.

  • One 60-minute lesson a week, one to one, on video, at the time you choose.
  • Lessons come four at a time: £96 every 28 days, which is £24 a lesson. Stripe takes the payment.
  • Need to move a lesson? Once every 8 lessons you can move one with no questions asked, if you tell us more than 12 hours before it starts. Beyond that you can ask: we’ll try, but we can’t promise.
  • Cancel any time: email us before your next payment.
  • First lesson not right for you? Tell us before your second lesson and you get your money back.
  • Lessons are recorded only if you say yes, and you can change your mind at any time. Nothing is ever published without your separate, written yes.

Who we are

Glossalyse is the trading name of Jon Weaver, a sole trader in the United Kingdom. “We” and “us” mean Glossalyse. You can reach us at hello@glossalyse.com.

Your account

You need an account to book and to see your lessons. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. You must be 18 or over to open an account.

The weekly hour

When you pay, you get one live, one-to-one English lesson each week, lasting 60 minutes, on video, at the day and time you chose. The same tutor teaches you each week. Your first lesson is the next one at that time after your payment is confirmed; your Glossalyse page shows it.

Between lessons you may be given short practice to do on your own. It is included in the price.

Paying

Lessons are sold four at a time: the Weekly plan is £96 every 28 days, which is £24 a lesson. Each payment covers the next four weekly lessons. Single lessons are not sold on their own. It is a subscription: it renews automatically every 28 days until you cancel it, so your weekly time stays yours.

Payments are taken by Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store your full card details. The price you pay is shown before you confirm. If the price ever changes, we will email you at least 30 days before the change applies to you, and you can cancel before then.

Moving a lesson

Once every 8 lessons you can move a lesson with no questions asked. That is one move for every two 4-week plans: your first and second plans share one, your third and fourth share the next, and so on. Tell us more than 12 hours before the lesson starts, by email to hello@glossalyse.com. The new time must be an open time with your tutor within two weeks of the original lesson.

Need another change? You can ask us. We are under no obligation to move the lesson, but we will try to find another time. With less than 24 hours to go, you can ask only if you haven’t already asked in that 4-week plan (each 28-day payment).

Otherwise the lesson goes ahead at its usual time. If you miss a lesson, it counts as taken.

If we have to cancel or move a lesson, it doesn’t use your move. We will offer another time, and if none suits you, we will refund that lesson (£24).

Cancelling

You can cancel your subscription at any time by emailing hello@glossalyse.com before your next payment. Nothing more is charged after that, and you keep the lessons you have already paid for.

Your 14-day right to cancel. Under UK consumer law you can cancel within 14 days of your first payment for any reason. Because lessons can start during those 14 days, if you cancel we refund your payment minus £24 for each lesson you have already taken.

Money back if your first lesson isn’t right

If your first lesson isn’t right for you, tell us before your second lesson, by email to hello@glossalyse.com, and we refund your first payment in full (£96). Your subscription stops and nothing more is charged. This promise is on top of your legal rights.

Recording and your speaking

We record your lessons only if you say yes. You choose when you create your account, separately from accepting these terms, and you can change your choice at any time under Account. A change applies from your next lesson. Saying no does not change anything else about your lessons or what you pay.

If you say yes, your tutor uses the recording, a written transcript, and the notes typed in the lesson chat to review your speaking, show you in plain words what is changing, and build your practice between lessons. Your tutor may use speech analysis tools to help with that review. You never get a score. If you say no, the lesson is not recorded and nothing is built from it afterwards.

Using any recording, image, or story of yours outside your own learning, for example in a video about Glossalyse, always needs your separate, written permission first, and you can take that permission back at any time. See Privacy & contact for how recordings are handled.

How we both behave

We will teach with care and turn up on time. We ask you to be respectful to your tutor, and not to record, share, or publish lessons yourself without your tutor’s agreement. We may end an account, with notice and a refund of any lessons not yet taken, if these terms are seriously broken.

If something goes wrong

Tell us first at hello@glossalyse.com and we will try to put it right. We are responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing here limits your legal rights as a consumer.

Changes and the law

If we change these terms, we will post the new version here with a new date, and email you about any change that affects you. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
